Meditations

Meditation has been one of the most important tools I have used to heal. I used to look at meditation enviably, as I could not quite grasp the understanding. Once I started listening to Tara Brach, however, I was able to touch in to meditation in a completely new way. I thought meditation was a way to escape, or "not feel" anything. Quite the contrary, Tara uses meditation to help us discover our feelings within so we may acknowledge what is here. 

I began processing emotion in a completely new way, and soon learned how to bring the acronym of RAIN into my everyday life. This was a pivotal moment for me, and since then I have been able to move through emotions mindfully. When something comes up, I am able to:

Recognize - feel an emotion and put a name to it

Allow - let it be there

Investigate - why this is here and why I am feeling this way

Nurture - give myself the love and acceptance for feeling it

Moving through emotions is actually a difficult process if we have never been taught how to properly. There will be a lot of stuff that comes up in moving through these meditations, and I recommend giving yourself a lot of time, space, and comfort from within to navigate what may come up for you. 

Here are a few of my favorites, ranging from 10-30 minutes. It helped for me to start small, with the shorter meditations and ease into them. Feel free to browse Tara's channel on youtube or spotify and save some meditations that speak to you.
